Thinking About J-pouch Surgery?

If you are considering surgery for your ulcerative colitis or hereditary colon cancer (such as FAP and HNPCC), the staff at Boston Medical Center’s IPAA Center are here to help. We welcome patients seeking both an initial consultation as well as a second opinion.

J-pouch Follow-up Care

For patients with a J-pouch, it is important to receive annual follow-up care after IPAA. We encourage all our patients to return to the IPAA Center each year. We also accept patients who received their J-pouch at an institution other than BMC and are looking for pouch care.

For Your First Appointment
Please have your health insurance card with you. Your co-payment is expected at the time of your appointment unless another arrangement is made in advance. If possible, please bring a copy of your prior medical records related to your IBD, FAP, or HNPCC and previous surgeries.

Location

Patients are seen at the Dempsey Center for Digestive Disorders (CDD). The clinic is on the 2nd floor of the Moakley Building in suite 2100. After exiting the elevators, the CDD will be on your left. The Moakley Building is located at 830 Harrison Avenue in Boston. Parking

Parking is available for a fee in the garage at 710 Albany Street. Valet parking is available next door to the Moakley Building in front of the Menino Pavilion at 840 Harrison Avenue for $12 per day. Metered street parking is also available in the neighborhood surrounding BMC.

Prescriptions Refills

• Pouchitis – If you are experiencing symptoms of pouchitis, please call Dr. Farraye at 617.638.6116.
  
  
• Loperamide (Imodium®) refills – We will gladly refill prescriptions for patients who maintain their follow-up schedules. In order to provide a refill, the original prescription must have been written by an IPAA Center provider. We regret we cannot refill prescriptions written by other physicians. Please call the physician or surgeon who is the primary provider of your J-pouch care at the number above.
