Minority Recruitment Program

Welcome!
Boston Medical Center's Minority Physician Recruitment Program works to increase the proportion of minority residents and fellows at prestigious teaching hospital, in order to better serve our minority patient population. We hope you will consider a residency or fellowship at our institution, and that you will consider us a resource throughout the application process.

Program Details
An elective at the Boston Medical Center can open the door to excellent teaching professionals and exposure to a wide range of disease entities. As Boston’s safety net hospital, with the city’s most diverse patient population, and a premiere research institution, Boston Medical Center offers unequaled learning opportunities.

The Boston Medical Center Minority Recruitment Program offers Subsidized Elective positions for qualified 4th-year medical students. Apply this summer to complete an elective in the residency program of your choice, between the months of August and December; members of our steering committee will evaluate your application. If you qualify, we will assist with your travel, provide housing for you during your visit, and/or offer a modest living stipend.

Completing a month-long subsidized elective at the Boston Medical Center is an opportunity for you and the department to get to know each other. Additionally, this will enable you to meet minority housestaff and faculty, and to get to know the city of Boston.

If you have questions about the Subsidized Elective, or any aspect of residency at Boston Medical Center, please do not hesitate to contact us.
