Clinical Assessment and Ongoing Clinical Care
Evaluations and recommendations for appropriate developmental services (i.e. Early Intervention), nutritional recommendations and medical management are provided. For babies who are struggling with diet and/or adequate weight gain, our dietitian makes home visits to observe a child during a feed, provide feeding plans and offer additional recommendations. Our clinic can also schedule a feeding assessment for babies with particular feeding difficulties. Our family outreach advocates also provide home visits to assess any needs that the family may have in obtaining access to appropriate resources and supports. Parents and referring pediatric providers are provided with comprehensive reports documenting the visit.
After the initial evaluation, ongoing follow-up is scheduled as needed, based on the needs of the child and family.
NICU Family Support Lunches: The Pediatric Baby Steps Team provides Family Support Lunches for families of babies while they are hospitalized in the NICU. The goal of these lunches are to provide families with an opportunity to meet each other, ask questions in an informal setting and focus on aspects of their baby’s care upon discharge (i.e. Early Intervention and Visiting Nurses Association). Lunches are hosted approximately once every 1-2 months.
