Welcome!
Radiation Oncology is the medical specialty devoted to the treatment of cancer
(and certain benign diseases) with radiation. Treatment commonly consists of the
precise delivery of high-energy X-rays to the tumor, while sparing surrounding normal
tissues as much as possible. Radiation may be used to eradicate a cancer, typically
in combination with surgery and/or chemotherapy, or to help improve quality of life
by reducing pain or other symptoms.
At BMC,
we closely work with medical oncologists, surgeons and specialists from other
disciplines such as Pathology or Radiology to provide the best comprehensive cancer care
possible. We also tend to the special needs of our patients, including helping with
transportation, nutritional guidance, and free care.
We participate in multi disciplinary clinics where physicians from different specialties come together to examine and evaluate the needs of the patient in order to develop the best treatment plan for that patients.
