Stroke & Cerebrovascular Center

Clinical Trials and Research Programs

The cerebrovascular center at Boston Medical Center (BMC) is committed to furthering the evidence-based practice for cerebrovascular disease, developing research protocols, and collaborating with other institutions for NIH-funded projects. Most of the research projects at BMC are in the form of a clinical trial, where patients with stroke are invited to participate by taking a new medication.

Patients enrolled in these studies are followed up regularly for the defined period of the trial, and then afterward as needed.

Participation in these clinical research trials is voluntary. Patients are provided with complete information of the study, its rationale, risks and benefits of participating. There is no discrimination against patients who decline participation in a study. The study pays for all costs incurred as a result of participation.

The stroke service research coordinator is Helena Lau, RN. You can reach her by dialing 617.414.1171. Other research assistants include Christopher Carr.
