Volunteer Benefits


Most volunteers work at least three hours per week for a minimum of six months. The minimum age for volunteering is 16. The minimum time commitment is 50 hours.


BMC wants your volunteer experience to be a positive one. In addition to the satisfaction that you will have by knowing that you have helped someone in need, these benefits are available to Boston Medical Center volunteers:

  •  A free meal each day that you volunteer

  •  Convenient access to public transportation

  •  Complimentary parking

Invitation to our annual Volunteer Appreciation Night

 

  •  Membership discount at the South End Fitness Center

  •  Free continuing education classes and workshops at BMC--as space permits

  •  Support from our Occupational and Environmental Medicine Office in the event of illness or injury while you are here

  •  Security escort to your car or public transportation when you depart BMC

  •  Regular communication through the Volunteer Update newsletter and our on-line sign-in system
