Information You May Need

Education and Training

Radiology Residency

BMC offers a residency in diagnostic radiology and a residency in interventional radiology with complementary experience at VA Health System hospitals and Boston Children’s Hospital. Our approach is hands-on, with most radiologic examinations at BMC conducted and interpreted by residents in consultation with an attending physician.

Breast Imaging Fellowship

BMC offers a one-year breast imaging fellowship for clinicians who have completed a residency in diagnostic radiology. The fellowship covers all aspects of clinical breast imaging, with opportunities for research and an observership in breast surgery, breast pathology, and/or oncology.

Research

Breast Cancer Research

The breast imaging team is engaged in multiple research projects related to benign breast disease and breast cancer.  BMC is one of the multiple sites participating in the multicenter TMIST trial comparing 2D mammography to 3D digital breast tomosynthesis in the early detection of breast cancer. In addition, we have ongoing projects investigating the role of artificial intelligence in predicting breast cancer response to chemotherapy, the role of contrast enhanced mammography in clinical practice, and the impact of social determinants of health on care delivery and breast health outcomes.
