Core depression is a procedure to treat osteonecrosis (dead bone) that involves drilling into the bone to allow for increased blood blow. By drilling either one large hole or several small holes into dead bone near the top of the thigh bone, your surgeon can relieve pressure in the bone and slow down or stop the deconstruction of the hip joint.
