About

Antonieta Camara holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Rhode Island and a Master's degree in nursing from the MGH Institute of Health Professions. In the early 1990s, she worked with the Department of Public Health to reduce maternal mortality and improve healthcare access in underserved communities. She later served as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner at Geiger Gibson and Neponset Health Centers, where she provided gynecologic and obstetric care to a diverse patient population.

Since 2016, she has been with Boston Medical Center in adult primary care, focusing on underserved populations. She initiated a program to integrate long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) into primary care, improving access to contraceptive options. Her special interests include contraception, menopause, and preconception care. Antonieta is fluent in Portuguese and Cape Verdean Creole and conversational in Spanish.
