About

Lea Sheward, MD has joined our Department as the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Nephrology. Dr. Sheward received her undergraduate degree in Classical Studies and Biology from Union College in Schenectady, NY. After a brief career in basic science research, she obtained a master’s degree in Biomedical Studies from Tufts University. A medical graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr. Sheward completed her pediatric training at the University of Vermont and fellowship training in Pediatric Nephrology at Boston Children’s Hospital. Throughout her career, Dr. Sheward has been an advocate for addressing food insecurity and for understanding the impact of poverty on patients. Under her leadership, we now have the opportunity to expand comprehensive pediatric nephrology services to our pediatric community.
