American Heart Association Authorized Training Center logo

The American Heart Association's ACLS Course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2020 American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care. This course builds on the foundation of lifesaving BLS skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR.

This advanced course highlights the importance of high-performance team dynamics and communication, systems of care, recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, immediate post-cardiac arrest, acute dysrhythmia, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes (ACS).

Target Audience: MDs, PAs, RNs, NPs, Paramedics, Respiratory Therapists, Technicians, etc.

ACLS Certification / Recertification is simple:

ACLS classes are taught in a blended format. Once you register, you will be assigned the online video-based class and 50 question written exam to complete. Then you will attend a four-hour hands-on skills session where you will demonstrate what you have learned.

  • Register for and complete the ACLS online program and final exam.

    • Employee BLS skills sessions are offered at the BMC Main Campus, St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Good Samaritan Medical Center and the BMC Behavioral Health Center in Brockton.
    • Outside Student skills sessions are only held at the BMC Main Campus

  • Complete the ACLS hands on skills session with an instructor to finish your certification process (about four hours).
  • The completion card will be emailed the next business day.

Important Notes

Adding on Basic Life Support Certification during ACLS
Optional - If you complete the HeartCode BLS online portion prior to the ACLS skills session, we will issue both a BLS and ACLS completion card. No preregistration is required.

Skills Session Locations:
The skills sessions are held in various locations around the BMC campuses. When you sign up for the skills session, please make note of which location your session will be held in.
