To create closer links with the region and expand learning opportunities, the department has established an affiliation with Central Maine Medical Center. This site offers a wide variety of expertise and clinical opportunities for Boston University Medical Students. Central Maine Medical Center is located in Lewiston, Maine (a two hour drive).

Central Maine Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program

Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) was established in 1888 as Central Maine General Hospital. The growth of the tiny hospital into a regional healthcare facility has paralleled the growth of the area and the healthcare needs of area residents. Reflecting the increase in the variety and quality of healthcare services it provides, Central Maine General Hospital became Central Maine Medical Center in 1976.

CMMC offers comprehensive healthcare services to the residents of the Lewiston-Auburn area, as well as to those living in the greater central Maine region. With an active medical staff of more than 130 physicians representing some 30 specialties, over 1,000 highly-qualified employees, and with the support of the latest technologies, CMMC is well positioned to meet the regions healthcare needs with the utmost compassion, kindness and understanding.
