BOSTON – Two community leaders who have been deeply committed to the patients of Boston Medical Center - Rev. Willie Bodrick II, J.D., M.Div. , senior pastor of Twelfth Baptist Church, and William F. “Ted” Truscott, the CEO of Columbia Threadneedle Investments – have been named to BMC’s Board of Trustees.
Bodrick currently serves as a community advisor to BMC’s Health Equity Accelerator, which seeks to understand the root causes of the most persistent racial inequities in healthcare and develop innovative solutions. Bodrick partnered with BMC to host a community COVID-19 vaccination clinic in the fellowship hall of Twelfth Baptist Church in Roxbury in 2021, and has been a valued advisor to city and state leaders on equity and community issues.
Truscott is chair of BMC’s Philanthropic Trust and co-chaired BMC’s Seasons Gala in 2022. The Columbia Threadneedle Investments Boston Triathlon annually supports BMC’s health equity programs to benefit our patients.
“Ted and Willie are champions for our patients and believe deeply in our mission,” said Martha Samuelson, chair of the BMC Board of Trustees. “They exemplify the community partnerships that are critical to BMC’s success, as we extend beyond cutting edge medical care to address root causes of health inequities in areas like housing, food insecurity and economic mobility. We are thrilled to have their knowledge and expertise on our Board of Trustees, as we build a strong, healthy future for BMC and our city.”
Truscott is CEO of Columbia Threadneedle Investments, a leading global asset manager headquartered in Boston that provides a broad range of actively managed investment strategies and solutions for individual, institutional, and corporate clients around the world.
Truscott is a corporate leader committed to service and philanthropy. Throughout his career he has dedicated time and energy to non-profit organizations, both locally and nationally. In addition to his work with BMC’s Philanthropic Trust, he serves on the Investment Company Institute’s Board of Governors, as chair of the Board of Trustees of Middlebury College and as chair of the Board of Directors of The Greater Boston Food Bank.
Bodrick is the Senior Pastor of the Historic Twelfth Baptist Church. Prior to being named Senior Pastor, he served on the ministerial staff for eight years as Youth and Young Adult Minister, Young Adult and College Minister, and eventually the Associate Pastor. He is also the President and CEO of The American City Coalition, which focuses on social and economic justice in the Roxbury community through economic and workforce development.
Bodrick holds multiple leadership positions in the community. He is the Chair of the Board of Advisors of the Roxbury YMCA, a member of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) New England Leadership Council, the Board of Directors of Massachusetts Advocates for Children, and appointed by Governor Maura Healey to serve on the Governor’s Advisory Council for Black Empowerment. He is also the President of the Boston Network for Black Student Achievement, a member of the Boston Public Schools Opportunity and Achievement Gap Taskforce, and Co-Founder of the Forward Fund.
Bodrick formerly worked in the Corporate Group at the law firm Brown Rudnick, LLP, and also as the Senior Advisor for the successful Ed Markey Campaign for the U.S. Senate in 2020.
