Boston Medical Center Health System Names Ankur Agrawal as Chief Financial Officer

BOSTON – Boston Medical Center Health System (BMCHS), an integrated, academic-led health system that includes the largest essential hospital in New England and the largest Medicaid managed care provider in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, has appointed Ankur Agrawal as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. 

Agrawal will provide leadership and financial oversight for the health system and help to advance the organization’s mission of delivering expert care and advancing health equity for its patients and members. 

“Ankur’s expertise of developing innovative strategies and informing operational improvements will help us deliver exceptional care in a value-based environment,” said BMCHS President & CEO Alastair Bell, MD. “His leadership will be pivotal in guiding our financial strategies and ensuring we remain on a sustainable path forward.” 

Agrawal is joining BMC Health System from McKinsey & Company where he served as a partner in the firm, building and leading its strategy and corporate finance practice. He has more than two decades of experience in counseling major health systems and life sciences companies, advising on strategic and financial issues. He is recognized as an expert in healthcare mergers and acquisitions and performance transformations, having significantly contributed to finance operations across major healthcare organizations. His background also includes serving as vice president of finance at Gerson Lehrman Group in New York, where he played a key part in the company’s early growth and funding phases. 

Agrawal is a former president’s fellow at Harvard University where he earned a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School. He also has a bachelor’s degree from Indian Railway Institute of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering in India.
