Boston: A Destination

Historically, if self-consciously nicknamed “The Hub,” as in the hub of the universe, and affectionately nicknamed “Beantown,” Boston is famous for everything from its history as one of the cradles of liberty during the Revolutionary War, to home of some of the best sports teams in America including the recent world champion Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, and the resurgent Boston Bruins. Other pop cultural and historical highlights of this great city include Paul Revere’s great ride, the Cheers bar, and clam "chowdah." Boston is part history lesson, part modern metropolis, and part quaint city. Also sometimes nicknamed “the walking city,” Boston is one of the most accessible cities in the country due to its small size and its heavily used and easily accessible subway system, affectionately dubbed the “T.”

The city features the Freedom Trail – a historical pedestrian path that weaves in and out of charming neighborhoods – the lively Boston Common and Public Garden, Fenway Park, the Children's Museum, the New England Aquarium, and the U.S.S. Constitution docked in gorgeous Boston Harbor. Boston is highlighted by several notable neighborhoods – the theater district with Broadway productions near Boston Medical Center, the North End, which preserves a vibrant Italian flare complete with authentic cuisine, Newbury Street with bountiful upscale shops and cafes, and the South End, a diverse and architecturally stunning part of the BMC neighborhood, with extraordinarily varied dining spots and enticing boutique shopping. Boston also boasts the historical Faneuil Hall Market Place, the TD Garden, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, The Leader Bank Pavilion outdoor summer concert series, and 32 outstanding colleges and universities in a multitude of picturesque settings in the greater Boston area.

Consider being part of the very best of two worlds: Boston Medical Center for an extraordinary and diverse educational opportunity and the city of Boston for a vibrant, cosmopolitan living experience.
