We are excited to offer ways for you to participate and reflect on our commitment to normalize treatment and de-stigmatize substance use disorders. Take a look at how you can get involved!

Words Matter Pledge

Anytime

Only 1 in 10 people with a substance use disorder (SUD) receives treatment. Stigma is a key barrier. Using language that puts the person first reduces stigma by helping people with SUD get the treatment they need and promotes patient-centered care from the healthcare team. The Grayken Center for Addiction created the Words Matter Pledge as a call to action and a commitment to helping us create a stigma-free community. Take the pledge at BMC's Recovery Day on September 7th and throughout the month of September!

Grayken TTA Recovery Month Training Series

Throughout September

Virtual Events

This September, Boston Medical Center's Grayken Center for Addiction Training and Technical Assistance team is launching the Recovery Month Series. The series is comprised of four, hour-long educational sessions for healthcare providers and SUD treatment programs who seek to better understand how we can support individuals and caregivers in recovery. Utilizing both panel and didactic discussions, we will explore the uniqueness of one’s recovery journey and experiences to better support those in recovery and those with lived experiences. We will also promote a variety of supports for individuals working to build their recovery capital and unpack the unique needs of caregivers and those parenting in recovery. Each session is facilitated by a Grayken TTA educator and experts with lived experience.

Topics include:

  • Our Recovery Stories (September 8th, 12:00 PM  1:00 PM)
  • Community Recovery Support Groups (September 13th, 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM)
  • Caregivers in Recovery (September 22, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM)
  • Building Recovery Capital (September 27th 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM)
