Welcome
This section is designed to give you general information
about orthopaedic trauma research. Please feel free to view our current
research studies.
Orthopaedic trauma surgery looks at the musculoskeletal system. The
musculoskeletal system is made up of bones, joints, muscles and other parts
of the body. Doctors who work with bones are called orthopaedic surgeons.
Some orthopaedic surgeons, while caring for patients, also do clinical
research. Clinical research means that patients participate in research.
Broken bones can be caused by a traumatic event, like a car accident. There
are common orthopaedic traumatic injuries like broken feet, legs, arms,
hands, the pelvis, and spine. Orthopaedic trauma research is done to learn
the best way to fix broken bones caused by these events. It is also done to
learn the best way to prevent similar types of problems for future patients.
Orthopaedic trauma research helps doctors to better understand the best way
to treat broken bones.
