Dr. Karavas received his medical degree from Humboldt University of Berlin – Charité in 1997. He did his internship in general surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and completed residency at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton, Mass. This was followed by a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and a fellowship in aortic surgery at the ... Hospitals of the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining BMC in 2022, Dr. Karavas was a cardiothoracic surgeon in Utica, New York. In addition to English, he is fluent in German and Greek.
