Welcoming Eliza Hallett, MS, Research and Evaluation Coordinator
At the beginning of June, Eliza Hallett, MS, joined the Center for the Urban Child and Healthy Family as Research and Evaluation Coordinator. Eliza has spent most of her life in Oregon, which is where she received a B.A. in Biology and Spanish from the University of Oregon Honors College in 2017. She recently graduated from the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University with an M.S. in Nutrition Interventions, Communication, and Behavior Change. During her studies, Eliza worked extensively with the Rhode Island Public Health Institute to evaluate their large-scale mobile market program, Food on the Move. She has also been involved in public health research and evaluation projects at the University of Washington and at the Friedman School.
Ms. Hallett is joining Boston Medical Center to support a joint initiative between the Center and the ACO Research team to create a comprehensive evaluation core that drives and supports the full spectrum of evaluation activities across the Center, Hospital and Health System.
EASE Clinical Innovation Presented at the 2019 Pediatric Academic Societies Meeting
In April, Dr. Soukaina Adolphe, MD, and Ivys Fernández-Pastrana, JD, presented at the Pediatric Academic Societies (PAS) Meeting 2019. Their presentation, Engagement and Access to Special Education Clinic: Innovation in Primary Care, was given during the Serving the Underserved Special Interest Group session. The presentation highlighted their work in the development and implementation of the innovative Engagement and Access to Special Education (EASE) Clinic model. During their presentation, they discuss how their model addresses the unique needs of children in special education including how providers can serve as advocates for high-quality and appropriate services within the school system. Additionally, they presented descriptive data on patients seen in the EASE clinic during the first 18 months garnered through the program evaluation being conducted in partnership with the Center for the Urban Child and Healthy Family.
Save the Date for the Third Annual Flu Clinic and Wellness Fair
Saturday, October 5th, 9:00AM – 12:00PM
Hosted by the Center for the Urban Child and Healthy Family and the Department of Pediatrics, the fair will provide flu vaccines to Boston Medical Center’s patients, highlight some core services and programs such as the Pediatric Family Advisory Board, and most importantly, be a fun-filled day with families! This has been a very successful event for two years running, due in large part to the commitment of the BMC community, friends and community-based partners.
