All patients and visitors on our main campus must enter our hospital via Shapiro, Menino, or Moakley buildings, where they will be greeted by team members at a new centralized check-in desk before continuing to the hospital. This test evaluates your swallowing. Pharyngeal and upper sphincter manometry can detect the sphincter’s (muscle that maintains constriction of a natural body passage) failure to relax and assess the coordination between the contraction of the pharynx and the relaxation of the upper esophageal sphincter.
