Starting September 14, we’re closing the Menino building lobby entrance. This, along with the ongoing Yawkey building entrance closure, will help us bring you an even better campus experience that matches the exceptional care you've come to expect. Please enter the Menino and Yawkey buildings through the Moakley building, and make sure to leave extra time to get to your appointment. Thank you for your patience.

Conference

Fellows and faculty come together for weekly PEM conference. This includes in situ simulation (once per month), M&M, core lectures, evidence based medicine, procedure workshops, visiting lectures from subspecialists, and radiology review. Fellows also grow their skills in teaching by teaching their own lectures a few times per year to a variety of learners, as well as collaborating with faculty for radiology review and M&M.

Fellows are encouraged to attend adult EM conference for high yield content, and are invited to pediatric grand rounds and pediatrics case of the week conferences.

Faculty work directly with fellows monthly on a longitudinal QI curriculum and associated QI project, and on hands-on ultrasound practice.

Fellows have the opportunity to learn outside of BMC at both local and national conferences.

Research

Research skills are emphasized throughout the fellowship and development of an independent research project is a priority. Fellows work closely with our head of fellowship research to learn about research projects, identify an area of interest, and choose a mentor/mentorship team. We are able to pull from a diverse array of faculty from the pediatrics and adult emergency departments, as well as from the school of public health. Grant sources are identified either through internal or external funding sources. Although all fellows must have a project, they can vary greatly based on interest. Our fellows consistently present their fellowship projects at national conferences and publish their work in well regarded journals.
