Nondiscrimination Policy Update

Sickle Cell Disease - Pediatric Clinic

Treatments and Services

BMC offers all treatments and services for sickle cell disease, including:

  • Hydroxyurea
  • L-glutamine
  • Voxelotor
  • Crizanlizumab
  • Blood transfusions
  • Pain medications 

Treatment of young patients also usually includes antibiotics from two months to five years of age to help prevent infections.

Children should be seen regularly in the outpatient clinic to assess for symptoms, screen for complications of the disease and promote general health and wellbeing. We also recommend appropriate immunizations across the lifespan.
