Campus Construction Update

Starting September 14, we’re closing the Menino building lobby entrance. This, along with the ongoing Yawkey building entrance closure, will help us bring you an even better campus experience that matches the exceptional care you've come to expect. Please enter the Menino and Yawkey buildings through the Moakley building, and make sure to leave extra time to get to your appointment. Thank you for your patience.

Avoid a Long Wait Time in the Emergency Room

All too often, an illness or injury can appear out of nowhere: you wake up with an intense sore throat or cough, your baby spikes a fever overnight, or you twist your ankle bringing groceries up the stairs. While you may assume a visit to your local Emergency Room is the best choice, it’s important to consider all options.

Animal or insect bitesIf you are ill and/or need medical attention but do not have a life threatening emergency, it’s actually best to avoid a visit to the Emergency Room, as they can sometimes be long, unnecessary, and expensive! Primary care providers throughout BMC (General Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, and Pediatrics) offer same day appointments for the following kinds of minor illnesses and injuries.

  • Back, knee or joint pain
  • Colds and coughs
  • Earache
  • Eye infection or irritation
  • Fever
  • Gynecologic issues/pregnancy test
  • Medication refills
  • Minor allergic reactions
  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
  • Rash or other skin conditions
  • Same day STD testing and treatment
  • Sore throat
  • Urinary tract infections

We always do our best to accommodate our patients as quickly as possible. If you cannot be seen by your PCP soon enough, we can direct you to a walk-in urgent care center close to your home or work that accepts your insurance.
