Who We Are

Boston Medical Center’s Community Behavioral Health Center (BMC CBHC) launched in January 2023. BMC CBHC is part of the statewide network of CBHCs across Massachusetts that offer immediate and confidential care for mental health and substance use needs. BMC CBHC is comprised of the BEST Team, the CBHC Clinic (formerly known as the Bridge Clinic), and Community Crisis Stabilization (CCS) units for youth and adults.

What We Offer

We are a one-stop shop for crisis, urgent, and routine mental health and substance use care. We offer 24/7 community-based crisis evaluations, urgent visits, routine and follow-up appointments. We are committed to providing timely, high-quality, and evidence-based services that are accessible, comprehensive, culturally competent, and respectful of the dignity of the individuals we serve.

We serve all ages – youth, adults, and families in Boston (Allston, Brighton, Dorchester, Hyde Park, Jamaica Plain, Mattapan, North End, Roslindale, Roxbury, South Boston, South End, and West Roxbury) and Brookline.

Programs and Services

24/7 Call Center

Our 24/7 Call Center is staffed by professionally trained clinicians who triage calls, provide support, and make appropriate referrals via phone, in-person evaluations, and telehealth. You will always speak to a live clinician on the phone. 

When you call, our clinician will ask you for some basic demographic and insurance information as well as questions about the current situation. Our clinician will assist you in determining next steps. If appropriate, our clinician will set up an in-person or telehealth evaluation for you or the party you are referring.

BEST Mobile Crisis Intervention (MCI) Team

The BEST Mobile Crisis Intervention (MCI) Team provides a 24-hour response to youth and adults in need of crisis intervention for mental health and substance use concerns in community settings. 

  • We serve all ages.
  • We accept all insurances, including uninsured/no insurance. 
  • You can come to our urgent care center or our team of trained professionals can come to you!

BEST MCI Services:

  • 24/7 MCI hotline 
  • 24/7 MCI on-site/mobile evaluation – you can come to our urgent care center or our team of trained professionals can come to you
  • Same-day crisis evaluation and intervention  
  • Brief follow-up 
  • Referral to behavioral health and substance use services in all settings, including Community Crisis Stabilization (CCS) 
  • Connection to certified peer specialists and family partners

CBHC Clinic

The CBHC Clinic, formerly known as the Bridge Clinic, is the front door for same-day urgent visits for mental health or substance use concerns. 

  • Walk-ins accepted. No appointment needed. 
  • We accept MassHealth insurance (excluding MassHealth Limited)

Adult Community Crisis Stabilization (CCS) Unit

The Adult Community Crisis Stabilization (CCS) is a staff-secured and safe treatment program that provides short-term crisis intervention for adults (18+) with mental health needs and co-occurring disorder over a 5-day stay.
