About

Shamaila A Khan, PhD is a clinical psychologist at Boston Medical Center (BMC) and an assistant professor of Psychiatry at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. She is also the Executive Director of the Center For Multicultural Training in Psychology (CMTP) and the Director of the Center for Multicultural Mental Health at Boston University. She specializes in individual trauma, group and community-based trauma, immigration and postcolonial trauma, and disaster-related trauma. Dr. Khan travels nationally and internationally to provide disaster relief services and present at conferences on identity development and multicultural clinical practice. She is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Service Appreciation Award for her work following the Boston Marathon bombing, the Woman of the Year Appreciation Award by the Pakistani Association of New York, and the Outstanding Service Award by the U. S. Attorney’s Office. Dr. Khan serves in many leadership roles, including as a member of the Disaster Behavioral Health Advisory Committee of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health. She is of Pakistani American descent and is conversant in seven languages.
