It is a great recipe to prepare asparagus in a very easy and quick way. You can enjoy this as a side of your main dish. 

 

Ingredients


Asparagus - 1 lb Salt - 1 teaspoon Water - 4 cups Ice-water - 1 Large bowl

Instructions

Step 1
Wash your vegetables and trim 1inch off the ends.
Step 2
Bring a large pot of water to boil with salt on medium heat.
Step 3
Boil your asparagus for two minutes. Check doneness by braking a piece.
Step 4
If the stem is till breakable and not bendable it is ready to strain.
Step 5
Place the strained asparagus in a bowl of ice water for 2 minutes. Use in any meal or save it in the freezer for another day.

Notes

 

Blanching can be used for most vegetables such as green beans, spinach, apareagus, kale and more. Blanching is boiling vegetables for a short time and cooling in water (known as shocking). Blanching helps the vegetable keep their bright color, texture and flavor, while also maintaining the integrity of important vitamins (2021, Clemson University).
