About

Alison M. Duncan, MD, is a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist and the Director of Psychiatric Emergency Services at Boston Medical Center (BMC). Dr. Duncan is also an assistant professor of Psychiatry at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. She specializes in emergency psychiatry, pediatric consult-liaison psychiatry, suicide, substance use disorders, severe mental illness, ADHD, and depression in childhood and adolescence. Dr. Duncan sings with Coro Allegro, Boston's LGBTQ+ and allied classical chorus. She is often accompanied in the hospital by her dog, Cocoa, whose therapeutic skills are in high demand. Dr. Duncan's research focuses on emergency psychiatry, implementation science, quality improvement and parent-adolescent communication.
