The Department of Pulmonary, Allergy, Sleep, and Critical Care Medicine provides comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, education, and rehabilitation services for a full range of pulmonary diseases and allergy conditions. The practice has an award-winning clinical program in asthma and expertise in fibrotic lung disease, bronchiectasis, pulmonary hypertension, sarcoidosis, and tuberculosis. We also have expertise in allergy and immunology, as well as critical care medicine.

A program offering care from a sarcoidosis specialist providing diagnosis and treatment for sarcoidosis symptoms affecting the lungs and other organs.

Care from sleep doctors who diagnose and treat sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, and restless leg syndrome.

A clinic providing care for tuberculosis, including evaluation of tuberculosis symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment.

Education and Training

Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship

This three-year program provides training for fellows to become board-certified in both pulmonary and critical care medicine. The fellowship includes clinical care at Boston Medical Center and the VA Boston Healthcare System, as well as a mentored research project. An optional fourth year, focused on research, is also available to trainees.

Allergy and Immunology Fellowship

BMC’s two-year allergy and immunology fellowship provides clinical experience in adult and pediatric allergy clinics, as well as the pediatric respiratory clinic. Fellows also have the opportunity to rotate through highly specialized clinics at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, as well as complete a research project.

Research

Our research program includes nine affiliated labs, which focus on immunity and infection related to pulmonary disease, lung development, regenerative medicine, lung cancer diagnosis, and improvements in patient outcomes and quality of care.
