It entails a variety of projects ranging from basic science and translational research to observational and interventional clinical trials. As a part of an inner city hospital in Boston, MA, that is affiliated with one of a major medical schools in the nation, our research department relies on a diverse network of expertise and resources, including the General Clinical Research Center and Data Coordinating Center, to conduct its research projects. The research department serves a diverse population. It offers patients the participation in research studies that employ cutting edge technology, such as screening and diagnostic imaging, as well as innovative treatments and novel contraceptive techniques which are designed to positively impact patients’ care. The projects are sponsored by various funding sources including federal government (notably NIH), industry and private foundations. Our department’s highly motivated, dedicated, multilingual researchers often collaborate with researchers from other research programs. A successful and productive collaboration has been developed with Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Infectious Disease and Pathology Department as well as with Aids Malignancy Program and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Faculty members from OBGYN department serve as research mentors for residents, fellows, medical students, as well as masters in science and public health students.
