Anti- seizure medications, also called anticonvulsant therapy or anti-epileptic drugs, are medications used to treat epilepsy. These are the most common treatments for epilepsy and successfully treat and prevent seizures in many people.

Changes to what you eat can be helpful for controlling seizures in some people with epilepsy. These diets generally have low carbohydrates and high fats.

If medication and other treatments aren't enough to control your epilepsy symptoms, your doctor may recommend surgery. Surgery for epilepsy removes the area of the brain where seizures happen.
