Social/Recreational Events

Social/recreational events focus on having fun and interacting with each other. Some events have included going bowling, visiting a museum, playing in a trampoline park, and rock climbing and playing basketball at a fitness center.

Community Service Events

Community service events focus on getting the participants active in their communities and letting them explore different parts of Boston. Some previous events were planting bulbs on the Boston Medical Center campus, making care packages for a local animal shelter, cleaning up a nature trail at the Mass Audubon Boston Nature Center, and participating in the Boston Cares Day of Service.

Combination Events

Combination events combine celebrations (often centered on a holiday) with community service projects. Some previous events were:

  • Winter holiday parties where participants made and donated no slip socks, cookie jars, and rice-filled heat packs,
  • Birthday parties where participants celebrated everyone’s birthdays together and assembled goodie bags to donate
  • A dog-themed event where participants made dog toys to donate to a local MSPCA and had a chance  to interact with members of BMC’s therapy dog team.
