Dr. Stephen P. Christiansen is an ophthalmologist and the Chief of Ophthalmology at BMC, and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.

Dr. Christiansen's work has been recognized by ophthalmic organizations around the world. He is an expert in pediatric ophthalmology, adult and childhood strabismus, pediatric cataracts, pediatric glaucoma, and tearing. Dr. Christiansen is an extensive researcher whose interests include childhood and adult strabismus, pediatric cataract, retinoblastoma, and retinopathy of prematurity.

Dr. Christiansen received his medical degree from Medical College of Wisconsin and bachelor's degree from Wheaton College. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at University of Kentucky and a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Dr. Christiansen has served in numerous leadership roles for the American Board of Ophthalmology, the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and the American Orthoptic Journal.
