Carla B. Monteiro is the Behavioral Health Director for Addiction Treatment Services at the Grayken Center for Addiction at Boston Medical Center (BMC), where she oversees the clinical and operational aspects of substance use disorder (SUD) programs and initiatives. With over eight years of experience in addiction and hospital settings and as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Carla has developed and implemented evidence-based interventions, policies, and practices to address the complex needs of diverse populations affected by SUDs, mental illness, and systemic barriers. She is also a passionate advocate for social and racial justice, serving on various advisory committees and boards and engaging in community outreach, education, and public speaking.
