Boston Center for Refugee Health and Human Rights

Through an innovative model of outpatient care, BCRHHR provides comprehensive mental health services – including counseling and medication management – designed to meet the special needs of refugees and survivors of torture, asylum seekers and immigrants. As a part of the BMC Immigrant & Refugee Health Center (IRHC), patients of BCRHHR are able to be connected with all of IRHC's services including medical, OB/GYN, and social services that they may need in order to heal, rebuild and thrive.

The BCRHHR provides services to approximately 500 individuals from over 40 countries. Interpreter services are available for more than 250 languages to aid in the healing journey of each patient and their families. The BCRHHR is also a member of the National Consortium of Torture Treatment Programs (NCTTP) as well as the International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims based in Denmark.

Our Mission

In an effort to serve survivors of torture and related trauma, the BCRHHR firmly recognizes the importance of providing care to the whole person and reaches out to refugee communities and torture survivors to offer a place of safety and trust.

Our mission is to provide holistic health care coordinated with social services and legal aid for asylum seekers, refugees, survivors of torture, and their families. We also train professionals to serve this population, conduct research to understand and implement best-practices, and promote health and human rights, locally and globally, to improve the quality of life for survivors of torture and their communities.
