Christopher W. He combines informatics expertise with activities focused on substance abuse disorders to design and develop substance use focused programs and research studies enhanced by the use of IT. He is the Director of the Community Medicine Unit for 13 affiliated local Community Health Centers comprising the Boston HealthNet. He maintains active working relationships with multiple community-based organizations and has over 24 years of community-based clinical practice. He is actively working on several projects including a clinical trial titled Transforming Opioid Prescribing in Primary Care (TOPCARE). TOPCARE is a randomized clinical trial to transform care for chronic pain patients and their opioid-based treatment. Dr. Shanahan is board certified in Addiction Medicine.
