La ptosis (u ojo vago) es una caída del párpado superior o inferior, que ocurre cuando los músculos del párpado no son lo suficientemente fuertes para trabajar el párpado correctamente. El envejecimiento puede hacer que estos músculos se deterioren, pero algunas personas nacen con esta afección. Otros factores como el trauma y la inflamación pueden causar ptosis al igual que una condición como el síndrome de Horner, una interrupción del nervio facial que conduce al cerebro.
