La escoliosis es una curva lateral en la columna vertebral que se ve con mayor frecuencia cuando un niño se acerca a la adolescencia. En un caso leve, un hombro puede parecer más alto que el otro o la cintura puede estar inclinada. Si ese es el caso, se controlará al niño y es posible que no se necesite tratamiento. Los casos graves pueden tener una torsión en la columna y una curva, lo que puede causar dolor de espalda y problemas respiratorios. La escoliosis parece ser hereditaria (viene de familia) o causada por enfermedades como la esclerosis múltiple (EM) e infecciones / lesiones de la columna.
