Dr. Elijah E. Paintsil is a pediatrician and the Chief of Pediatrics at BMC, and Chair of Pediatrics at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.
Dr. Paintsil is deeply committed to advancing pediatric care, training, and research, and to achieving health equity for underserved communities. He is a nationally-recognized pediatric infectious disease specialist, caring for children with conditions ... such as HIV, Lyme disease, and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). A renowned physician-scientist, Dr. Paintsil also conducts research on antiretroviral therapy-induced mitochondrial dysfunction, the transmission of hepatitis C among injection drug users, and pediatric HIV treatment outcomes in resource-limited countries.
Dr. Paintsil received his medical degree from University of Ghana. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Lincoln Hospital in New York City before continuing his journey at Yale School of Medicine with a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases. Dr. Paintsil has held many prestigious advisory roles, including that of consultant to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) in its continent-wide COVID-19 mitigation efforts.
