Acerca de

Wilberthe Pilate, RN, BSN, IBCLC is a nurse and lactation consultant. She provides lactation care to families in Boston Medical Center’s postpartum unit, as well as to inpatient breastfeeding parents and children anywhere in the hospital. She also provides ongoing lactation-specific education to nursing staff on the postpartum unit, and participates in the breastfeeding medicine elective at BMC for fourth-year medical students. Along with colleagues in Pediatrics, OB/GYN and Family Medicine, she is co-founder of the Breastfeeding Equity Center (BEC) at BMC. The BEC focuses on training, education, research, and clinical services for breastfeeding/chestfeeding in order to address racial inequities in lactation support and families’ breastfeeding experiences and outcomes, within the BMC health system and beyond.
