Clinic provides state-of-the-art rehabilitation, orthopedic and radiology services in a collaborative care model

Boston Medical Center has opened a clinic at South Bay in Dorchester that will allow patients to access the latest rehabilitation care, while providing convenient access to orthopedics and radiology services in one location.

BMC opened the clinic this month, and held a ribbon cutting to mark the occasion with BMC leaders and the community on May 31.

“Boston Medical Center is proud to combine world class clinicians with cutting edge treatments and compassionate, quality care, right in the communities we serve,” said Alastair Bell, MD, MBA, President and Interim CEO of Boston Medical Center Health System. “Our new, state-of-the-art clinic at South Bay will improve access to specialty services and reduce wait times, while offering patients a collaborative care model for the best outcomes and quickest recovery.”

Features of BMC’s South Bay clinic include:

  • Rehabilitation care – BMC has moved the primary location for physical and occupational therapy to South Bay, allowing patients to benefit from “one-stop” clinical services in a new, welcoming space, all under one roof.
  • Orthopedics – The new location offers non-operative condition management for arthritis and hip, knee and back pain, co-located with physical therapy, occupational therapy and radiology for effective and efficient care. Orthopedic referrals will be made to South Bay instead of the main campus when it is medically appropriate and convenient for patients.
  • Radiology – The clinic has the latest advanced digital imaging to safely deliver the highest quality images for patient care.

The South Bay clinic reflects the continued growth of BMC’s rehabilitation services in the communities served by BMC Health System. BMC opened a Winthrop clinic in 2016 and a Hyde Park clinic in 2020.

The collaborative care model at South Bay will include a newly formed non-operative team, composed of a physiatrist and physician assistant, who will be working in the space and offering specialized services, including ultrasound-guided injections.

The clinic at South Bay is located at 39B District Ave., Dorchester. For more information on our South Bay services and to book appointments please click here.
