David M. Freccero, MD, FAOA is an Assistant Professor and Attending Orthopaedic Surgeon at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine/Boston Medical Center, specializing in joint replacement and revision surgery of the hip and knee. Dr. Freccero is involved in the Boston Medical Center Adult Reconstruction Fellowship and provides education and surgical training to physicians in hip and knee replacement surgery. Dr. Freccero graduated from Yale University with a BS in Chemistry in 1997. He earned his medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. He then completed residency training at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, HI in 2007. Dr. Freccero served in the United States Army as a staff orthopaedic surgeon for four years. He was stationed at USAMEDDAC-Korea, in Seoul, Republic of Korea. There he served as Chief of the Orthopaedic Surgery Service and was a member of the Forward Surgical Team. While on Active Duty, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Global War on Terror Medal. Dr. Freccero also completed the adult reconstruction fellowship at New England Baptist Hospital. Dr. Freccero has a keen interest in improving patient outcomes after total joint arthroplasty. He uses advanced technology to improve the accuracy of implant placement during surgery. He is actively involved in clinical research to improve overall surgical outcomes of patient undergoing hip and knee replacement surgery and studies to evaluate new implants and new technologies. Dr. Freccero is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and volunteers his time as a committee member to benefit patients and fellow surgeons in achieving the best possible outcomes after surgery. He is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and volunteers as a committee member to enhance the profession of orthopaedic surgery.
