Naomi M. Hamburg, MD, is a cardiologist at Boston Medical Center (BMC), the chair of the vascular biology section and the Joseph A. Vita, MD Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. After receiving her medical degree, Dr. Hamburg completed an internal medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and a cardiovascular disease fellowship at BMC. Dr. Hamburg is a recognized expert in the field of vascular medicine. Her research focuses on approaches to restore vascular health in patients with cardiometabolic disorders, peripheral artery disease, the impact of novel tobacco products, and long COVID. She has held multiple leadership positions in the field including the chair of the Peripheral Vascular Disease Council of the American Heart Association and a member of the Board of the Society of Vascular Medicine, the American Society of Echocardiography, and the Vascular Testing Division of the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission. She has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed scientific papers and is a past associate editor of Vascular Medicine and a current associate editor of Circulation Research. Dr. Hamburg is also a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
