Screening Recommendations
Based on current evidence, we encourage all women to undergo annual screening mammography starting at the age of 40 years, is an important part of a healthy routine as early detection of breast cancer will maximize chance of cure. Regular mammography is the most effective way to detect breast cancer before physical symptoms are seen or felt.
Some patients may benefit from starting screening earlier than age 40 years if they have risk factors that put them at higher lifetime risk for breast cancer. Some of these high-risk patients and those with dense breast tissues might also benefit from additional screening with either MRI or contrast enhanced mammography in addition to the annual mammogram.
Breast Health Program
Our Breast Health Program utilizes a multi-specialty approach that is dedicated to patient-centered care. Our specialists work together as a connected team, which provides patients with personalized care, streamlined patient visits, and rapid access to testing and results.
All new patients are given expedited appointments in the Belkin Breast Health Center, where they are seen by either a medical or surgical breast specialist.
In addition, our breast imaging nurse navigator and patient navigators help guide patients through their specific journeys by providing them with support, facilitating appointments, and answering questions. The Nurse Navigator’s primary focus is on the patients along with their families and support systems.
